What to prepare for your first custom skill
A practical checklist: your task, good examples, rules and a way to judge the result.
Start with one repeatable task
Describe the task as an input and a desired output. “Turn a client brief into our proposal format” is easier to scope than “automate sales.”
Bring examples of good work
Two or three approved outputs help explain your standards. Remove personal or confidential information before sharing initial samples.
Write down the boundaries
List required sections, terminology, things the output must not claim, and actions that require your approval.
Agree on acceptance
Choose representative samples and describe what passing looks like. Include missing information and unusual inputs, as well as straightforward examples.
